Tuesday started like any other busy day for me. I had a 5 a.m. wake-up call and was out the door by 6:40 a.m. for satellite radio interviews that went from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., and then again from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. All in all, it was a long day of talking, but I enjoyed sharing conversations with all the different radio DJ's.
After all the interviews, I headed home and got freshened up for our night ahead at the Grand Ole Opry. We headed over to the Opry around 5:30 p.m. on the tour bus. The thought of us going to the Opry was so surreal. Once there, we were assigned dressing room #8 backstage. After having a few minutes to take it all in, Mark, Chad and myself went to rehearse with the house band. They sounded amazing and had our songs down pat.
Around 7 p.m. we made our way to side-stage where I was set to perform at 7:15 p.m. I had this feeling of excitement mixed in with some nerves. When my time came to stand on the famous circle on stage, it was like a rush of adrenaline came over me. I performed three songs in a row -- first one being ‘Crazy Days,’ followed by ‘What It Takes’ and then ending with ‘Down The Road.’
The crowd attendance was more than they had expected for a Tuesday night. Everyone seemed really enthused with the music I shared with them. When I was done, I made my way off stage and was greeted by Little Jimmy Dickens. He looked at me and said "Good job!". I would have to say that this was one of the many highlights of my night. They really weren't kidding when they said he was just 4’11".
After my performance, I stayed for a little while and visited with all my friends. We then headed out on the bus to pick up the rest of the band members from the loft. We now are on our way to Atlanta, Georgia where we'll be doing a show tomorrow for Carl Black Chevrolet.
Oh, by the way, I just got some more exciting news to share with all of you -- 'Crazy Days' landed in at #30 on the US Mediabase chart -- so I'm totally thrilled with that .... Thanks to everyone's hard work, it's continually moving up the charts. Well that's another day in my life -- I hope you all had a great day and evening and I'll talk to you soon. God Bless.
